Decorah Community School District is committed to providing transparent, accurate data regarding cases of isolation and/or quarantining related to COVID-19 while maintaining the confidentiality of students and staff. On September 18th, the Iowa Department of Public Health and Iowa Department of Education released guidance to school districts and local public health agencies detailing communication of COVID-19 related data. The Iowa Department of Public Health guidance can be found here.

Summary of Positive COVID-19:
Of approximately 290 Staff Twenty-three (23) positive COVID-19, Twenty-two (22) recovered
Of approximately 1575 On-site students Seventy-seven (77) positive COVID-19, Seventy-One (71) recovered
Superintendent Mark Lane said, "While we know the administration of vaccinations for COVID-19 has begun in Winneshiek County, we don't yet know when Iowa educators may have an opportunity to receive the vaccination. I am hopeful we may learn more about our state plan in the next couple of weeks. Regardless of the vaccination timeline, we know the critical strategies that help us provide our students with on-site learning include the consistent wearing of face masks, staying home when ill, washing hands frequently, maintaining appropriate personal distancing when possible, and keeping our social circles small."
"Our contact tracing experience has demonstrated that when we do these things, on-site learning is a safe and healthy option, and it is the learning format we prefer to offer to our students," Lane continued. "Please continue to do all you can to help us maintain on-site learning."
