The Decorah School District was experiencing some of its highest COVID-19 quarantine and isolation numbers of the year just before the Christmas break. However, the numbers post-break have fallen.
The latest COVID-19 data released by the school district show that on Tuesday, December 22nd, the last day of classes, there were 18 students out with a positive COVID-19 test and another 71 students who were isolating or quarantining. Two weeks later, on January 5th, that number had dropped to six students out with a positive COVID-19 test and 36 students isolating or quarantining.
By the end of this week, out of the approximately 290 school district staff members, 23 had tested positive for COVID-19 and 22 of those have recovered. Out of approximately 1,575 students on-site in school buildings, 77 have tested positive for COVID-19 and 71 have recovered.
