Winneshiek County ranks second in active COVID-19 cases in NE Iowa

Fayette County has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the six-county region of northeast Iowa, followed by Winneshiek County.

As of Thursday morning, Fayette County reports 296 active cases, Winneshiek County reports 240 active cases, Allamakee County reports 216 active cases, Clayton County reports 171 active cases, Howard County reports 153 active cases, and Chickasaw County reports 107 active cases.

Thursday's figures show Fayette County with 1,484 total COVID-19 cases, Clayton County with 1,465 total cases, Winneshiek County with 1,425 total cases, Allamakee County with 1,224 total cases, Chickasaw County with 1,071 total cases, and Howard County with 773 total cases.

Clayton County reports the highest death rate in NE Iowa with 47, followed by Allamakee County with 26, Fayette County with 21, Winneshiek County with 19,  Howard County with 18, and Chickasaw County with 11 deaths.
