While millions of Americans voted for President last week, not every elective office gets as many ballots cast. Take, for instance, the position of Calmar Township Trustee. No one took out nomination papers for the spot, so absentee ballots had to determine the outcome.
Unfortunately, those 17 write-in votes resulted in a three-way tie. So Tuesday morning Winneshiek County Supervisors put the names of Rod Lensing, Steve Bouska and Doug Groux in a hat. Lensing's name was drawn, so he will be sworn into office as a Calmar Township Trustee.
