West Music announced Wednesday that it will be closing its Decorah store and rescaling their Dubuque store by the end of 2020.

A news release from the business says, "Due to the unprecedented challenges of 2020, West Music is adjusting their service offerings in the area at the end of the year."  Said West Music president Ryan West, "Decorah has a rich musical tradition and…we will do our best to support that tradition with new service models."  West says the company is exploring putting in kiosks in local businesses as one possible way of continuing to serve its customers in the Decorah area.  West Music will continue its School Music Education program, with employees continuing to call on area schools.

West Music is working with impacted associates to relocate to other parts of the business or locations or complete their tenure with the business at the end of the year.

"In the last six months we have learned a great deal from our customers and current needs, and we are adopting the lessons learned to take care of our customers with new tools, technologies, and virtual visits.  We remain committed to serving our area customers and their musical needs for years to come," said West.
