Thanks to a community and school effort, a new pit cover has been added to the Decorah High School Auditorium to support the needs of the school's musical and theater groups.
The cost of the pit cover itself was more than $50,000. The cost of new lighting to cover the expanded stage area was more than $25,000. Decorah Music Boosters led a community fundraising campaign to cover the cost of this project. The group provided an anchor donation of $20,000. 97 other donors contributed almost $43,000 for a combined total contribution of $63,000.
Additionally, the school district approved upgrades to the lighting and sound system, which were installed over the summer months. All of the stage lighting has been updated to LED technology, and the sounds system has been updated with 24 new wireless microphone sets. The financial commitment for this part of the project exceeded $160,000.
