It's official.  Decorah police officer Brent Parker is being promoted to the title of Assistant Police Chief.

A swearing in ceremony was held for Parker at the start of Monday night's Decorah City Council meeting.  Parker's daughter, Bristol, pinned the new badge on her father.

Parker joined the Decorah Police Department in January of 2015.  Before that he spent eight years on the West Union Police Department, including a year and a half as Police Chief.  Parker also spent 12 years in the military, with several overseas deployments.

Since joining the Decorah Police Department, Parker has been on the special response team and the drug task force and also serves as a firing range instructor.

Parker and his wife have two daughters.
