The Happy Hour Book Group will meet at Rubaiyat at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday to discuss Julia Phillips' "Disappearing Earth."
The book is set on the Kamchatka peninsula at the northeastern tip of Russia. Two girls go missing and the fear and danger of the disappearance is felt most profoundly among the women of this isolated place. "Disappearing Earth" connects the lives of characters—a witness, a neighbor, a detective, a mother—changed by the abduction.
The group is open to the public. Newcomers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested should call the library at 382-3717 to learn more.
