At Monday night's meeting, the Decorah Community School Board continued to review a policy regarding restricting school-sponsored activities Wednesday nights. The policy was under review at the previous Decorah Community School Board meeting in July.
Currently the policy states there will be no middle school activities beyond 5:00 p.m. and none beyond 6:00 p.m. for high school students.
School board members agreed the language and policy need to be clarified, to make it so that students don't miss out on educational or spiritual opportunities. Member John Hjelle said: "It's an issue of clarifying the language, so that policy reflects practice."
Members agreed the policy language should leave allowance for extenuating circumstances.
Board members agreed to table further discussion until September's meeting, when Superintendent Lane would propose another revision.
