"Suds and Stories" begins Saturday

The Decorah Elks Lodge will be holding a children's book appreciation and reading event from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at West Side Laundry at 206 College Drive in Decorah.

Elks Lodge volunteers will be present to read children's books to kids while parents do their laundry.  In addition to reading books, volunteers will supply fruit and juice and a light lunch, will hold activities and games and will give each child their own free children's book to keep.

Elks volunteers say the event is not a child drop off or babysitting event—parents must be present with their children.

Additional "Suds and Stories" events will be held June 22nd and in July and August on dates to be announced later.

The event is funded through a grant from the Elks National Fund.  Laundry owners Russell Novak and Tade Kerndt helped by allowing the West Side Laundry to be used for the events.
