Growing Hope Globally is a Christian-based organization that partners with other organizations to train people in developing countries how to become self-sustainable--a hand up, not a hand out.
The Winneshiek County Community of Hope is a chapter of Growing Hope Globally. It raises funds throughout the year by selling pork chops at the fair and Nordic Fest and receiving donations from any person or organization.
The local group is trying to raise funds this month through a raffle for their two projects, Kenya West Pokot and Honduras Nueva Fonterra. Raffle prizes are four quarters of beef; four halves of pork, with processing included by Jets Meats of Waukon; $100 MasterCard Gift Card and $100 in script from St. Francis DeSales of Ossian. Ticket prices are $25 each (buy 4, get the 5th one free).
The drawing will be held on Tuesday, December 18th, at the KVIK studios at approximately 8:45 a.m.
Please contact Julie Vulk at (563) 380-8412 or Alvin Hageman at (563) 379-1928 for tickets, or if you would like further information about how you can help Growing Hope Globally. Any and all donations are also welcome.
