An accident Friday evening around 5:30 on Highway 9 in Madison Township caused $12,000 in damages.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Martin Schueller of Dubuque was traveling west bound on Highway 9 and attempting to turn left into a field driveway. 44-year-old Andrew Sassaman of Decorah was also traveling west bound on Highway 9, behind Schueller.  Sassaman attempted to pass Schueller at the same time Schueller began turning.  The two vehicles collided, but neither driver was injured.  No tickets were issued.

Friday evening after 11:30, deputies arrested 65-year-old Kipling Smith of West Union on a charge of Second Offense Operating While under the Influence.  He was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail.

Friday afternoon around 4:30, deputies served a warrant on 20-year-old Caleb Fenske of Ridgeway and took him into custody on a serious misdemeanor domestic abuse assault charge.  He was taken to the Winneshiek County Jail.
