New Minowa Players wins awards at statewide conference

New Minowa Players' 2016 spring production of "The Pillowman" competed at the I-ACT Festival in Marshalltown this past weekend, earning multiple accolades.

For the original production performed in April 2016, "The Pillowman" received three of the seven Iowa Community Theatre Association Awards for which it was a finalist--Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Steven Holkesvik), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Sarah Brandt), and Best Director (Aaron Kvale).  The production was also a finalist in the categories of Best Actor in a Leading Role (Alex Rosenow), Best Sound Design (Otter Dreaming), Best Choreography (James Mueller), and Best Ensemble (Shai Shay, Dennis Pottratz, Katharine Bergman, Joeann Tesar, David Mendez, and Dan Heitman).

For its performance of "The Pillowman" at the festival, New Minowa Players earned an additional two awards from the American Association of Community Theatres--Best Lighting Design of Festival and Most Outstanding Actor of Festival (Steven Holkesvik).
