The U.S. Mint and National Park Service are joining together to recognize Effigy Mounds National Monument near McGregor.

The U.S. Mint is releasing a new quarter next month that shows Effigy Mounds.  The quarter will be the latest in the Mint's "America the Beautiful" quarter collection.

The National Park Service will hold a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7th, at the Allamakee Community School District High School gym in Waukon to mark the official release of the quarter.  Elected officials and dignitaries from across the state are expected to be in attendance.

Immediately following the ceremony, Kerndt Brothers Bank will offer attendees the chance to buy rolls of the new Effigy Mounds National Monument quarters.  There will be a minimum limit of one roll of quarters (a $10 cost) and a maximum limit of ten rolls of quarters (a $100 cost) per person at the coin exchange.  Cash sales only.
