Marion asks Mr. Answer Person: "Why were American flags being flown on the streets of Decorah Wednesday?"

Mr. Answer Person says: "American flags are flown 16 days a year in Decorah.  Some of those days are not too surprising, such as the Fourth of July or Election Day.  Some others are a little more obscure—like Wednesday, which was "Victory in Europe Day."  There's also "Victory in Japan Day" (September 2nd), Armed Forces Day (the third Saturday in May) and Flag Day (June 14th).
