Ron e-mails Mr. Answer Person: Winneshiek County Historic Preservation Commission--is this the same group that cost taxpayers extra money by delaying the demolition of the Caretakers House at Wellington Place?  Are the members of this group from Winneshiek County or are they just spending our money that could do good things like repair the roads?

Mr. Answer Person says: "I realize it can be confusing with all the different historic preservation groups, but the best way to keep the WCHPC separate from the others is to notice the word "Commission."  That means this group is a group formed by Winneshiek County government, much the same as the Planning & Zoning "Commission" is.

So the answer to your question is "no"--this is not the group that fought the demolition of the Caretakers House at Wellington Place.  That group was called "The Caretakers Coalition," a group that formed to fight the demolition.
